Sign Language Inclusive for Development (SLID) Malawi

The registered trustees of Sign language Inclusive for Development (SLID) is a non-profit making organization with a full Board of trustees. It is duly incorporated under the trustees Incorporation Act (CAP. 5:03) of Malawi.

The organization was founded on 15th April, 2019 by a few deaf individuals who were the first deaf sign language trainers trained to train Deaf individuals and sign language interpreters across Malawi with the common goal of bridging communication Gap between the deaf and hearing community, thereby supporting inclusivity through sign language.

HELPING
HAND.

SLID helps settling school fees for some deaf students and wishes to extend the hand further, But to achieve this, we need donor support.

VOCATIONAL TRAINING.

Sign language inclusive for development has the programs that sends deaf youths study vocation schools at different vocational centers like in Mangochi at Malindi Community vocational.

SUPPORT IN AGRICULTURE.

Helping Deaf youths start or work in agricultural businesses, including access to resources and mentorship.

AWARENESS.

SLID conducts campaign to raise awareness about deaf culture, rights and importance of sign language, aimed at fostering understanding and inclusion in the wider community.

ADVOCACY.

SLID works with organizations, businesses and governmental bodies in ensuring that there is inclusivity in wider community.
